EINSATZ IN KABUL (Mission in Kabul)
short summary

"Mission in Kabul" can bee seen as an appeal against war and violence, and as a pledge for reconciliation and togetherness. It tells the exciting story of the Munich advertisement pro Matthias Niemeyer (37), who is sent to Afghanistan as a reserve lieutenant from one day to the other. There are about to be elections in Kabul.

The US forces have urgently requested reinforcement from Germany, to make the decisive step to democracy in Afghanistan, securing it against the attacks of the tribe leader Tamer el Zayed, who is considered a terrorist by the USA. For Matthias "Matze" this means being ripped out of his carefree life and the tranquil world of Leopoldstraße and being send straight to hell.

Because that's what the headquarters not far from Kabul's airport turns out to be: Daily drills in the extreme heat, desolate nights in the damp, sultry desert climate, as well as the problematic overcoming of the differences between the reserve soldiers. Their clashing characters form the breeding ground for fierce quarrels and conflicts with self-proclaimed professionals that at times almost crosses the line. Also, at the same time, the continuous fear of attacks from the local guerrillas. All this is getting to the three young Germans Martin, Klaus and Helmut – for whom Matze is responsible.

In the desert, the Germans experience what it means to have to come to terms with constantly changing rulers that ultimately only pursue their own ends, as the people in Afghanistan have to do. Every day, Matze has to face new and difficult challenges: he enters an adventure with the mysterious, native Natasha, he initially clashes with the charismatic US-captain and base commander Roger Priestley (by example: Jenson Ackles, "Supernatural"), he has to witness the deaths of some of his comrades. But, through all this, the easy-going "boy" matures to a responsible man, who puts the interests of others over his own and who learns to value life in peace as the most precious asset.

At Matzes' side: Tine, a doctor from Munich, who is secretly in love with Matze, Dr. Patricia Ravelli, a martial arts approved Red Cross surgeon with an avocation as well as Major Siegfried Stock, his superior and a close friend of Matze's late father, who carries the burden of a secret ...

They all depart on a journey into the unknown to put a stop to the blood-dripping activities of Tamer el Zayed, not knowing that - of all people – a state secretary of the US Department of Defense is doing business with just that Tamer el Zayed ...

Our protagonists live up to the good reputation of the German military. Helping people is the central theme of the story. But, in the end, there is one question: Who entitles the Western countries to meddle and interfere in the concerns of other nations, to invade them, sending young men to their deaths? Has the Second World War been forgotten so soon? Or is it all about money, after all?

The idea has been brought up to further develop this script that was written for a feature film to a series or a project of film sequels. The concept differs from other formats found in this genre in so far as that it asks the question "what if?" and therefore concentrates on the future rather than the past!

This film offers great TV entertainment of a superior international standard: hard-boiled action is paired with criticism on politics, hate and violence, but also with emotions on various levels and of course a love story: So come on an start up:

Mission in Kabul!
